Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosi are on a mission to make self-education the norm. I’ve spent the past year learning from them as part of their Knowledge Broker community, and their dedication to this cause and its impact is being felt around the world. As a course creator, I thought you might like to hear five of the secrets I learned from them:
Secret #1 – Self-Education is the Power that Changes Lives
When Tony was just starting out, he was broke and couldn’t afford to learn
His first success teacher was Jim Rohn, an Idaho farm boy and Sears clerk who made it big as a motivational speaker and author.
He taught Tony that if you want anything to change, you must change. If you want things to get better, you’ve got to get better. And that the secret of life is working harder on yourself than on the job, or a specific skill, or anything else.
Self-education is the power that transforms lives.
Secret #2 – You Don’t Have to Be an Expert to Have a Knowledge Business
There are three types of owners of knowledge businesses: the Expert, the Broker and the Reporter.
The Experts are the Jim Rohns, Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosis of the world.
The Reporters gather the knowledge from multiple experts (Tony did this with his Master the Game book when he Interviewed 50 of the smartest financial people in the world.)
The Brokers promote other experts and earn commissions when they introduce others to the experts (Tony did this initially when he starting working with Jim Rohn.)
The Broker role is an easy one to play. You can introduce the experts in your industry to your community (and very often earn lucrative commissions when you do!)
Secret #3 – It’s Not About the Resources
Both Tony and Dean came from incredibly difficult circumstances. They didn’t always have the resources or the money to fund their own self-education and projects.
But they believe that it’s not about how many resources you have. It’s about how resourceful you can be.
And I hope they share some of these stories with you on Thursday because they are inspiring.
Secret #4 – Meet Your Customer’s Needs with an Irresistible Offer
One of the best ways to grow your business is to answer two questions:
- Who is your ideal client, in detail? Not just any client, but who is perfect for you?
- What is your irresistible offer?
One big example of this is Zappos. The company is built on the premise that they pay shipping both ways when you order a pair of shoes from them. The shipping is free to get to you and free if you have to return the shoes. That’s an irresistible offer.
Secret #5 – You Don’t Need Anyone’s Permission to Teach
Everyone is an expert – because you only need to be “one chapter” ahead of those you are teaching.
As long as you have a passion for your subject and are willing to learn, grow and share everything you know with your community, you can. You don’t need permission to teach and help others.
In fact, people are more interested in learning from people who are “doing” what they want to learn, rather than a professional teacher. Because when you are in the trenches, you know the most important lessons to share.
With this level of hunger to help, you too can join in the $355 million dollars per day market for information.
