KEY TAKEAWAYS FOR ONLINE COURSE CREATORS

Threads is a text-based social media site, similar to Twitter, but with less negativity and up to 500 character posts.

    Pros of Threads:

    1. Text-based – so it’s super fast to post
    2. People are jumping in now and interested in building their followers
    3. Built-in base of users from Instagram
    4. Suggest accounts to you!
    5. User interface is very well thought out.
    6. Share links.
    7. Tag other people.

Cons of Threads (as of July 18, 2023. These could change!)

    1. Long-term? All social media sites right now are a bit perilous
    2. Struggling with what content to post – should it be different than IG?
    3. Only on your mobile device – no web interface right now
    4. No search for content

Secrets to Success for Course Creators:

    1. Get a keyboard!
    2. Leave thoughtful comments – not just emojis
    3. Find people in your industry – follow then AND their commenters.
    4. Repurpose!!!
    5. Balance this shorter-term content with the longer-term content you are creating
    6. Make sure you have a live link in your profile and use links strategically in your posts.
    7. Quote (and reshare) other’s posts.
